Artificial Photosynthesis. Comparison with the Natural Mechanism
Abstract
A methodology for simulating the photosynthesis process by artificial mechanisms is exposed. Mathematical calculus of energy and molecular oxygen are made and compared with results provided by the natural path. The comparison showed a higher energy and oxygen production, in different kinds of semiconductor bindings with respect to the three main photosynthetic mechanisms described in the plant kingdom. The C4 pathway, considered one of the most efficient mechanisms among plants, showed a similar behavior regarding artificial methods. This result allows the establishment of comparative patterns between both ways for elaborating high efficiency devices.
