Limitations of Hidden Markov Models for the Reconstruction of the Stacking Sequences in Close-Packed Structures

Abstract

It is shown the limitations of the -Machine spectral reconstruction e (eMSR) method for the derivation of the stacking sequence in disorder polytypic structures from X-ray diffraction data. The shortcomings of the methods are discussed in relation to sequences containing polytypes with large periods.
