Abstract

The effect of silver metallic powder (10 % in weight) in the thermoelectric (TE) properties of Sm0.05Ca0.95MnO3 pellets are studied. XDR patterns show that the silver does not enter in the perovskyte lattice, but seems to change the oxygen stoichiometry. Then the concentration of Mn3+ changes, producing a reduction of resistivity ρ and the slope of temperature dependence of Seebeck coefficient (or termpower) S . The silver addition increases the Power Factor S2/ρ.
