Fabrication and characterization of Plane Optical Guides with Gradual Refractive Index Profile
Abstract
An experimental setup for the fabrication of optical waveguides by means of ion exchange process is developed and the planar optical waveguides by the different controllable parameters in the fabrication process are obtained. Additionally, an experimental setup for the optics characterization of waveguides is developed, that allows accomplish semi-automated measurements of different angular position values of the propagation modes. An interface in Delphi 6.0 for the IWKB ( Inverse Wentzel Kramers Brillouin ) program is developed, that allows the determination of the refractive index profiles of waveguides fabricated. As result of the developed processings, the technological letters of fabrication process for the different parameters of waveguides are obtained.
