Abstract

The 2011 Nobel prize in Physics was given to three researchers for the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the Universe. A possible interpretation is that it is due to a negative pressure exerted by the so-called dark energy, which is estimated to account for 72% of the current mass of the Universe.
