Abstract

The characteristics of the developed gel chromatographic system employing a laser polarimetric detector are described. It is referred a flux polarimetric tube of 330 µL volume and 50 mm length designed by the authors, which was modeled using the COSMOSFloWorks 2003 program. The system has a data acquisition program which obtains on line the chromatograms from the RS232 polarimetric detector output. The storage of the chromatogram files makes easier its analysis and elaboration y diminishes significantly the required timed for obtaining the results. The measurement time of the detector for each point is one second, employing an elution velocity between 30 and 50 min. The system was applied as a complementary method for diagnostics of the scald foliar disease which produces significant damages in the sugar cane plantations.
