Abstract

In solar drying, the physical-chemical properties and the geometry are determining factors in the drying kinetics and they influence in process speed. A model to evaluating the solar drying kinetic process was presented for tile leaves (Justicia pectoralis Jacq var. pectoralis), as well as its experimental validation. The mathematical fitting of the curves corroborated that the proposed model describes the water extraction kinetic. Despite low values of diffusion coefficients and activation energy, this technology allows to prove the adequate thermal gradient into the chamber to contributing the leaf dehydration without the medical properties affectation.
