Abstract

A practical activity at laboratory associated to the course of Electromagnetism is proposed in order to determine electrical resistivity of copper, taking into account the electromagnetic induction fenomena. For this purpose, it was applyied a physical model describing the movement of a  neodymium magnet through a vertical cylindrical pipe made of copper, considering the magnetic force acting on the magnet as a viscosity force.
The model was numerically implemented and several simulations of the process were carried out. Direct measurements of several physical quantities such as length, thickness, mass, time and modulus of magnetic field, were required during the activity.
