TY - JOUR AU - Araujo Soria, Sebastián PY - 2017/12/06/ TI - Computation of Nonextensivity Parameter in the Fragment-Asperity model for the Ecuadorian Seismic Catalog by a Bayesian Approach JF - Revista Cubana de Física; Vol 34 No 2 (2017) KW - N2 - This article shows the application the fragment-asperity interaction theory to the earthquakes catalog of Ecuador. This catalog contains earthquakes generated by an oblique subduction, by the movement of a sliver plate and by several shallow faults. In this scenario, the nonextensive q parameter of the theory is calculated and it is compared with other regions. The q parameter for Ecuador is higher than for other seismic catalogs. We compute the parameter q of two types of seismicity originated in different physical processes: shallow earthquakes and intermediate-depth earthquakes. For the latter, the value of q is slightly higher than for the former. An essential contribution of this article is to show the calculation of the q parameter by an algorithm that solves the inverse problem from a Bayesian approach.
